The keto diet has gained popularity in recent years. Keto is short for ketogenic. For those unfamiliar, it’s a low carb, high fat diet with different variations. By reducing your carb intake, your body goes into a metabolic state called ketosis, which causes it to become incredibly efficient at burning fat for energy.

The paleo diet is based on foods people might have consumed during the paleolithic era, which was approximately 2.5 million to 10,000 years ago. A paleo diet includes lean meats and fish, fruits, vegetables, and nuts and seeds, basically anything that could have been found through foraging. The paleo diet is designed to return our food intake to what our bodies can genetically handle.

The whole30 program is considered an elimination diet, or a reset. It requires sticking to a strict diet for 30 days, no exceptions. This diet was designed for weight loss, as a way to detect allergies, and to reduce dependencies on sugar and other cravings.

We’ve got a recipe for you today that is compatible with all three of these diets, courtesy of Pre. For even more recipes that are diet friendly, visit our blog. Let’s learn how to make cajun burger lettuce wraps!

Ingredients:

  • 1 small red bell pepper
  • 1/2 small red onion
  • 1/2 tsp celery salt
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • high heat oil
  • salt and pepper

Preheat a large skillet on medium heat and add 1 tsp of oil. Add in your onions and bell peppers and cook until soft and translucent. Next, add in the Cajun spice and celery salt and cook for an additional minute or so. Transfer the vegetable mixture onto a plate and allow it to cool completely before mixing into the ground beef. Form patties with the beef and vegetable mixture and season with salt and pepper. Next, cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side. Allow to rest before plating with lettuce and toppings.
