Here’s what puts Dark Hammock a cut above the rest.

With so much misinformation out there, it’s hard to know whom to trust. That can apply to your beef, too. Labels can be a challenge to decipher, and grocery stores have limited availability. Shopping local is great, but how do you know what’s best for your family? Dark Hammock Legacy Ranch has the experience to back up our credibility. To learn more about our history, visit our website

When it comes to shopping for beef at the grocery store, you’ll probably have some options, but are they all that different? It’s unfortunately not enough to look for one that says “grass-fed” on the label. The term “grass-fed” gets thrown around to describe animals who consume grass yet receive grain at the end of their lives, which can be misleading to customers. Though the USDA can regulate grading, they haven’t done much to put rigid guidelines in place regarding this term.

So that leaves you, the customer, to sort it out. The confusion can result in hours of research online into different brands, wholesalers, and farms. Eventually, you may find yourself diving deep into cattle diets, trying to determine what’s best to eat. It’s important to keep in mind what’s important to you when choosing your beef; is it sustainability, budget, health or a combination of the three?

That’s why we recommend going straight to your rancher with your individual questions. At Dark Hammock Legacy Ranch, we’ve been part of farming grass-fed cattle for over a hundred years. We’re experienced, knowledgeable, and well-loved in our community. We can answer any questions you have with 100% transparency, whether that’s about seeing the cattle, grass diets, or the different versions of all-natural grain-finish we offer for maximum marbling preferences.

Keeping business local, our beef is processed with Chop-N-Block for maximum freshness. If you’re ready to order or have questions for us, give us a shout on our website.
